art technologist:: alycia griesi
Alycia, student at UW-Milwaukee intended to create a series of 3D photographic pieces that depict the inexplicable frustration that comes with trying to understand people past surface engagement. Visualized are stoic individuals with some cracked, shiny or peeling features. Some individuals' features have been stretched or repeated throughout in the image.
"I plan to use a flatbed scanner to take these photos which will then load directly onto the computer for review."
"I am pulling from my past decisions to stay guarded with my emotions and thoughts around others, especially in times of depression or loss. This series depicts the guise some wear to hide those emotions and innermost thoughts."

"The declaration of discoloration"

behind the scenes
It's a series about putting people of color back in history with a contemporary urban 21st century esthetic. Part I tackles the strong symbols of religion, on a mass scale the popular theology on the crucifixion of Jesus. Projecting that are woman of color today our are modern day sacrifices throughout societies world wide. Our woman are still abused in a numerous amount of ways in society like, being overly sexualized in media. Also fruiting and raising our generations alone due to the of absence of men in there homes in our inner city communities. There is a lot of artistic coding and details within set design that made this project so effective, to so many public contemporary issues! The hijab symbolizing the worldwide unconscious hate for Muslims, Middle Easterners, and People of Color. Jesus was a middle eastern Jew, we want to project that we are their allies in the most testing times. The geometric paint is symbolic for our strong and dominate genetic makeup, that allows people of color to survive and exists throughout the world globally. We also evolved the lighting ideas and conceptions first introduced in "Pinch Me" shot in France! "The Declaration of Discoloration" is a series that has such complexities and volumes to it that it's going to have 5+ Parts to exercise through conceptual visual and design the modernized experience for people of color.

Behind the Scenes
We wanted to construct a project off of nothing (Tabula Rasa) and watch it evolve, so many creatives try to create based of ideologies of life, experiences, etc. For this project we wanted to see more artist create off of impulse and simply collectively enjoying the processes of creating from nothing. We took a blank white (Lycra Cloth) breathing sheet to eliminate all forms of purpose, intention, and motivation. Included improvisational gestures and techniques to add movement to the form behind the cloth. From this concept, this project evolved into something larger. Another example for our metaphor of life. Thank you to the amazing Producers, Cast, and Crew! "Tabula Rasa" will be released in January of 2017 under The Stygian Project.
"PINCH ME"

The french photographer Olivier Chabaud and founder Nanya El Madyun Wilson wanted to portray the current state of People Of color in the u.s.a. The process is called Clair/ obscur. We shot in a black box in the dark, beaming different colors of lights from a computer screen to project the power of energy and melanin. we used three different color of lights: White, yellow, and blue. It applied us with so many moods.I am so excited to present the official media from this experimental project to you guys! please enjoy!
